Letter from TEATA president article
Message from the President of TEATA

It’s already 17 years Thai Eco-tourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA) had been founded by 10 like-minded tour companies. TEATA has grown up steadily both in membership and in its positive impact on the tourism industry. Fields of works include training to raise the standard of eco-tourism and adventure expertise of supply chains, marketing capacity as well as designing of many green routes. Now, we have more than 70 member companies.

During 2009-2011 TEATA, in cooperation with Green Leaf Foundation, ECEAT (European Center for Eco-tourism and Agr0-tourim) and CBT-I, had initiated the Project CSR-MAP (Corporate Social Responsibility and Market Access Partnership for Thai Sustainable Tourism Supply Chains) funded by EU. The project was successfully operated in making Thai-EU supply chains more sustainable and developing new products for European tourists looking for more authentic and more responsible travel experience.

The CSR-MAP Project won the 2011 PATA Gold Award in the Education and Training category

After the CSR-MAP Project , TEATA had signed MOU with DASTA (Designated Area for Sustainable Tourism Administration) for 4 years (2011-2015) to jointly develop Loei Area for creative and low carbon tour programs for international market targeting quality tourists. As a result, 6 themed sustainable tourism programs have been designed and completed ,open the opportunity for visitors looking for creative, insightful, authentic experiences based on special aspects of local life , culture and nature to be shared with local communities .
Now more than ever, it’s important that the tourism industry creates benefits for local people and the environment.

I, on behalf of TEATA, would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the government, private agencies and local communities which have given their kind cooperation and support over these years and also thanks all our TEATA Team and members, who actively support the association and help build up more responsible & sustainable tourism in Thailand.

DUANGKAMOL CHANSURIYAWONG
